Post-Treatment Instructions
To ensure proper healing and avoid complications, please follow these post-treatment instructions carefully:
1. Numbness & Sensation
- Your mouth may remain numb for a few hours after the procedure. Avoid chewing on the treated side until the numbness wears off to prevent accidentally biting your cheek, tongue, or lips.

2. Pain & Discomfort
- Mild to moderate discomfort is normal after a root canal, especially once the anesthesia wears off.
- You may experience tenderness when biting down or pressure sensitivity for a few days.
- Over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) or acetaminophen (Tylenol) can help manage pain. Take as directed by your dentist.

3. Temporary Filling & Crown
- If you received a temporary filling, avoid chewing hard or sticky foods on the treated tooth, as this material is not as strong as a permanent filling.
- A permanent filling or crown is essential to protect the tooth. Schedule your follow-up appointment as instructed to complete the treatment.

4. Oral Hygiene & Care
- Maintain good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing gently around the treated area.
- Rinse with warm salt water (1/2 teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water) 2-3 times a day to reduce irritation and promote healing.

5. Eating & Drinking
- Avoid eating until the numbness has fully worn off.
- Stick to soft foods for the first day and avoid extremely hot or cold foods if your tooth is sensitive.

6. Swelling & Healing
- Slight swelling or mild discomfort is normal. If you experience significant swelling, severe pain, fever, or a return of symptoms, contact your dentist immediately.
